Meet templ

Learning anything well takes three things.

A place to keep what you learn.

Someone to explain it when you're stuck.

And a plan that knows your exam date.

We folded all three into one.

templ.

Learn beyond.

Your notes, your coach and your plan, in one app.

See it work

One question. That's all it takes.

  1. 01

    Ask anything.

Type what you want to learn. Spanish. Calculus. How a jet engine works. Anything.

  2. 02

It asks two questions. Then it draws you a path.

Where you're starting from, and how much time you have. Then a real course: eight lessons, about six weeks, fifteen minutes a day.

  3. 03

Every lesson becomes something you can practise.

Lesson notes that teach, with an analogy, a worked example and the usual mistake. Flashcards made from them, one fact on each.

  4. 04

    And it remembers for you.

Days later, a card comes back, right before you'd have forgotten it. Remember it, and it waits longer next time.

The science

Remember on purpose.

Without review, most of a new idea is gone within days. Each review brings it back, and each time it fades more slowly, so the gaps can grow from one day to several weeks. Fewer reviews, and more of it stays.

Reviews are scheduled with spaced repetition, based on the SM-2 algorithm.

Your booklets

Everything looks like what it is.

Bring in a PDF, a book, a photo of the whiteboard. Write notes and draw diagrams. Ask for flashcards, a quiz, a summary or a mind map. Each one sits in your booklet as the thing it is: a quiz looks like a quiz sheet, and a book keeps a ribbon at your page. Every card is drawn by hand.

Meet Sebs and Kiwi

Sebs or Kiwi? Pick a study buddy.

Sebs, the curious one. An owl who always asks why.
Kiwi, the calm one. A capybara who never rushes you.

Pick one to learn with. They greet you when you open a chat and think out loud while they work on your answer. Dress them up: twenty-three things to wear, from a beanie to a wizard hat.tap them, then try something on ↓

The full wardrobe, and a companion who walks with you through the app, come with Plus.

And it moves

Ask how a ball flies. Then throw it yourself.

Ask for a simulation and templ builds one you can push, pull and replay. Try it: drag the angle, press Launch, and watch where it lands.

What is templ?

templ is a study app for Android, made by Synlabs. You type what you want to learn and it builds a short course with lesson notes and flashcards, then brings the cards back for review before you forget them.

Is templ free?

Free to start. Notes, flashcards, reviews, booklets, reading, drawing, the schedule and streaks cost nothing. The AI features (the course builder, chat, AI check, generated cards, quizzes, summaries, simulations and web search) come with templ Plus. Google Play shows the price for your country.

Is there an iPhone or web version?

No. templ is on Android only, through Google Play.

How does templ decide when a card comes back?
