Our philosophy

What we want
our apps to do.

We’re building templ around studying, practice, and planning. These are the standards we want the product to meet.

AI inside
the apps you use.

We’re interested in AI that helps with a task you already have. In templ, the Curriculum Coach turns one question into a short course, and the AI tools can make flashcards, quizzes and summaries from your own material.

The learner should decide what to study and whether an AI-generated explanation is useful. That is the relationship we want templ to support.

01

You decide what to study.

AI can help explain material or prepare practice questions. You should be able to review its suggestions and decide what to use.

02

Start with a task.

Start with a task someone already needs to do, such as reviewing a difficult topic or planning a study session. Build from that task.

03

Reduce the organising.

Reduce the work of organising a study session. For templ, that means bringing notes, reviews, and planning together.

04

Explain what happens.

Use clear labels. Explain what happens after a button is pressed. Show an error when something fails and give the person a way to try again.

05

Write about the work.

Use the journal to explain what we tried, what worked, and what still needs changing.

Our measure of progress

Does it help
someone study?

Using templ helps us understand where it needs to improve.
